Annetta Hinson
Design ideas for the woodpecker pattern.
Annetta Hinson
We recently visited Annetta Hinson in Cemlyn. She has lived in the same cottage all her life and raised her children there. In October she celebrated her 100th birthday. While we were talking I noticed a woodpecker on her bird feeder and she explained they were regular visitors. When I researched woodpeckers on my return home I discovered that they work in a pair to build the nest, keep the eggs incubated and feed the chicks. Annetta’s husband had only recently passed away, a few months previously and I felt it would be very fitting to design a pattern incorporating woodpeckers for her portrait.
Buom yn ymweld ag Annetta Hinson yng Nghemlyn yn ddiweddar. Wrth ymchwilio i gnocell y coed ar ôl dychwelyd adref darganfyddais eu bod yn gweithio mewn pâr i adeiladu'r nyth, cadw'r wyau wedi'u deor a bwydo'r cywion. Dim ond yn ddiweddar yr oedd gŵr Annetta wedi marw, ychydig fisoedd ynghynt a theimlais y byddai’n addas iawn dylunio patrwm yn ymgorffori cnocell y coed ar gyfer ei phortread.
